Non – Chronological writing

Year 6 have written non-chronological reports about a made up animal – The Tongo Lizard.

Class 6a have used questions as sub-headings to give structure to our work. We have focused on complex sentences and adding extra information using subordinate clauses. Take a look at Ahmed and Kiran’s writing below. How could they have improved their work further? What have they done well?

Narrative Writing

Last week in literacy we worked on our story writing skills. We used pictures as a starting point and tried to imagine that it was the first chapter in an exciting novel about a mysterious game. We studied the use of dialogue in a narrative and also how description can add to the atmosphere. We all ended our chapters on a cliffhanger to entice the reader to read on.
